21 Dec, 2016
Arab Bank held a special ceremony at its head office building in recognition of the significant role played by its employees who volunteered as part of the Bank’s corporate social responsibility program, “Together”. The event coincided with International Volunteer Day, which was declared by the United Nations in 1985. The event was attended by The Chairman of Arab Bank, Mr. Sabih Masri, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nemeh Sabbagh and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Randa Sadik, in addition to several heads of departments and employees. The volunteers were honored for their participation throughout the year in a range of activities and initiatives aimed at serving the local community in many areas, including health, environmental protection, poverty alleviation, education and orphan support.
In his opening speech at the ceremony, Mr. Nemeh Sabbagh thanked the volunteers for their efforts in serving the community and stated, “Arab Bank’s values are embodied through its initiatives and community-based programs that stem from the Bank’s strategic Sustainability approach. This entails our employees’ participation in volunteering activities as part of the Bank’s corporate social responsibility program “Together”, which constitutes a core pillar for the Bank’s constant efforts towards local community development.” He further added, “The ceremony reaffirms the importance of volunteer work as a noble and humanitarian activity that is celebrated around the world, and recognizes volunteers for their contribution of time, effort, knowledge and experience towards the community.”
Commenting on the participation of the Bank’s employees in this year’s program, Mr. Tareq Haj Hasan, Senior Vice President- Head of Branding at Arab Bank stated, “The number of community initiatives carried out by the Bank’s volunteers has reached 51, with around 850 volunteer participations. These initiatives have positively impacted more than 190,000 beneficiaries across the Kingdom, making the corporate social responsibility program “Together” one of the leading institutional community programs locally and regionally.”
Upon the end of the ceremony, the employees expressed their deep gratitude and pride in the recognition they received from the Bank. They considered this honor as a further motivation to continue and increase their engagement in all initiatives aimed at benefiting and developing the community.
It is important to note that the program “Together” is not limited to employee volunteering only, but also it provides the Bank’s customers the opportunity to support non-profit organizations that are participating in the program through the Bank’s different channels; these include the Internet banking service “Arabi Online” and telephone banking service “Hala Arabi”, in addition to the contributions that could be made at the Bank’s branches and ATMs across the Kingdom. Moreover, the “Together” Platinum card issued by Arab Bank provides its holders the opportunity to support non-profit organizations every time the card is used.
